77333-3Veterans of the war years were treated to a tea party on Saturday as part of the VE Day celebrations in the United Church Hall in Cricklade.
Local Women's Institute members prepared food and drinks for the event, and children from the area provided table service.
The Cricklade Museum exhibited a display of items relating to the involvement of Cricklade and RAF Blakehill Farm airfield during the war years, in addition to archived film footage.
RAF Blakehill, along with nearby Down Ampney airfield, provided a base for the Dakota Aircraft and Horsa Gliders that were used in the D-Day landings at Normandy, the battle or Arnhem and the Rhine crossing operations.
