A MAN accused of causing death by dangerous driving on a Woking road has appeared at Guildford Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing.

Pascal Di Pierro, 22, of Burford Avenue, Swindon, is accused of committing the offence on October 7, 2004, in Shores Road, Horsell.

The collision claimed the life of Di Pierro's cousin Samuel, 19, also from Swindon, who was a passenger. Both worked for MacLaren group which has a major technology site close by.

Another MacLaren employee, Alex Kilby survived the crash which involved a lorry. Di Pierro, dressed in a dark suit and tie, spoke only to confirm his name and address and was not required to enter a plea at the Thursday appearance.

He was granted unconditional bail until his next appearance at the court on Friday June 17.

It is understood that he will enter a plea when he is next in court.
