MORE than 600 aircraft will be heading for North Wiltshire next weekend for a gathering at Hullavington.

The 600 aeroplanes including vintage and classic aircraft will take part in the Great Vintage Flying Weekend at the former RAF training airfield from Friday, May 20, to Sunday, May 22, for the ninth annual event.

Terry Booker, operations manager said: "While some aviators simply hop over from airfields like Kemble, others are making a pilgrimage from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, Denmark, Belgium and even Switzerland."

The aircraft appearing will span 70 years of aviation, some are even sole survivors of their type still flying.

Already confirmed as coming include two historic Spitfires, scores of vintage biplanes and even an example of the world's largest biplane the Russian Antonov An-2.

Entry to the show costs £20 in advance for an all weekend pass, all-in-car pass while those arriving at the gate will pay £25.

There is also a solo ticket priced £15 for car and its driver with extra adults costing £5 each.

Gates open at 10am on Saturday and Sunday with the air-park opening up for visitors at 12.30pm until 2.30pm on the two main days. The airfield will close at 6pm.
