The two who may have witnessed the attackSWINDON police are appealing for two men caught on CCTV to come forward as witnesses after a man was attacked.

The 50-year-old was walking along Queens Drive in Walcot after a night out with friends when he was assaulted by a group of teenagers.

He suffered a broken left eye socket, bruising and grazing after the attack, which happened on Friday, April 22, just before midnight.

Four men were arrested shortly after the attack in Munro Close and were taken to Westlea police station.

They were released without charge pending further inquiries and since then nobody else has been arrested.

The man was attacked close to the Texaco garage in Queens Drive. Around the same time two men were shown on CCTV paying for items at the counter. The police say the men were not involved in any way with the assault on the 50-year-old but they could provide valuable information as they were so close to where it happened at the time.

A Swindon police spokeswoman said: "These two men may be possible witnesses to the nasty assault and we desperately want to speak to them.

"We can reassure them they are not in any trouble and encourage them to come forward."

One of the men has dark hair, stubble and was wearing a white sports jacket with a Fred Perry logo on it.

The other had close cropped hair and wore a blue sports jacket.

Det Con Graham McDonald and Det Con Steve Thorpe, the investigating officers, would like these men to come forward.

They would like them to get in touch by ringing Swindon police on 01793 528111 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
