ENERGETIC teacher Janet Kelly will embark on a trip of a lifetime to raise money for charity.
Janet, from Wootton Bassett, has been training for the trek across China for the past six months.
Her challenge will raise money for The National Autistic Society (NAS) a charity supporting people with autistic spectrum disorders and their families. Janet, who hopes to raise £3,000 in sponsorship, teaches young children with autism at the Chalet School in Swindon.
She also plays baritone for Swindon Brass band and has been sponsored by fellow members and other local musicians.
"I've always wanted to explore China, and this way I can help raise vital funds at the same time," she said.
"Autism affects over half a million people in Britain, and I wanted to do something to help the children I work with and other families coping with autism.
"My training is going well and I'm overjoyed by the support I've had from other local musicians."
Janet's nine-day trek begins on May 14, and the route will follow the Great Wall of China.
It will also take in areas rarely visited by tourists, plus visits to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
Anyone who would like to sponsor her can visit her website: www.justgiving.com/J-Kelly or phone the NAS fundraising team on 0207 9033663.
