FORMER Swindon Town star George Ndah is to appear in court charged with speeding on the M4.
Ndah who is worth more than £1.5m is alleged to have been zapped travelling at more than 70mph between junction 16 Swindon West and 17 at Chippenham.
The 30-year-old centre forward, who now plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been charged with four other motoring offences on February 16.
He will appear before Chippenham magistrates on Monday.
The other charges are driving without a licence; failing to produce a licence; having no insurance and failing to produce an insurance certificate.
These will be dropped if he takes valid certificates to court on the day.
Ndah, who lives in Sutton Coldfield, scored 16 goals for the Robins during his time at the County Ground between 1997 and 1999.
During his last year he made a reputation as one of the squad's most consistent players, and received the Evening Advertiser Player of the Year award.
London-born Ndah arrived from Crystal Palace with a £500,000 price tag.
His eventual departure to Wolves ended months of speculation and rumour.
He had been expected to sign for Queen's Park Rangers, but turned down an offer after failing to agree terms.
A bidding war then broke out between Watford who were new to the Premiership and promotion hopefuls Wolves.
Fans were surprised when he turned down Watford which offered then club chairman Rikki Hunt £1.5m.
But he eventually signed to Wolves for £1m provoking anger from fans, who believed that he was being sold on the cheap.
Speaking to the Adver at the time, Mr Hunt said: "Of course, as a club, we would have preferred George to sign for Watford because they were offering more money and because we did not want him playing in Division One.
"But the decision was down to the player and he wanted to go to Wolves."
He has scored 18 goals for Wolves but been plagued by injuries.
He has missed out on the championships for the past two years because of injuries.
His contract expires this summer, but if he can prove his fitness the club is willing to consider renewing his contract.
Ndah has also played for Gillingham and Bournemouth.
