GAZETTE & HERALD: WILTSHIRE explorer David Hempleman-Adams has unveiled his next record-breaking attempt.

Mr Hempleman-Adams, who lives in Box along with fellow adventurer Bear Grylls, is to attempt to break the world record for the highest formal dinner party

The current world record stands at 23,832ft, set by Henry Shelford on the slopes of Lhakpa Ri in western Tibet.

But the latest publicity stunt sponsored by Champagne firm GH Mumm's will take place in Britain at 25,000ft.

The attempt will take place on June 30 onboard a specially-built hot-air balloon.

As the record altitude approaches Bear Grylls and Royal Navy companion Lt Cdr Alan Veal will abseil 40ft from the balloon basket to a specially designed and formally laid dinner-table suspended beneath the balloon and enjoy a bottle of the sponsor's Grand Cru champagne.

Once the champagne is drunk, Mr Grylls and Lt Cdr will skydive back to earth.
