16127/03GAZETTE & HERALD: THE launch of a community development strategy in Corsham was marked with the unveiling of a mosaic sign made by eight children.
On Tuesday the students, aged between ten and 15, revealed the large estate sign that read Potley and Pockeridge.
It took them just one day to make and will be displayed near to the community centre on Pockeridge Road.
The youth project is part of a bigger scheme, which focuses on different issues such as health, crime, housing, transport, social enterprise and the environment.
Making the estate sign was a way to get young people involved in the community and the two-day venture also saw them litter picking and tidying up Corsham.
A spokesman for Westlea Housing, who initiated the community strategy, Nick Taylor said: "Westlea residents and staff, the police and the youth service have all been working together for the last year to put together a plan to increase the amount of work we do in the community."
Westlea's chief executive Dave Ashmore spoke at the launch on why Westlea is supporting quality of life initiatives.
