AN unbeaten tonne by Gloucester City Winget's captain Jon Tegg led them to victory over a Marlborough side which started poorly.
Marlborough captain Richard Terrell said his side lost their first six wickets too cheaply and had AJ Kumar and Jamie Horton's forties to thank for a competitive total.
Despite good bowling from Ben Head and Aussie debutant Simon Williams it was Tegg's 109 not out which stole the show.
Terrell said: "I think we were caught a little bit cold first game of the season and I think we went down to something around 60-6 and lost our early wickets too quickly.
"They have a very strong team. They have formed from the merging of two sides last year and I think we will not play a better outfit all season.
"Unfortunately when they were in bat with missed out opportunities and we even dropped Jon Tegg in two successive catches."
Marlborough play Woodmancote at home on Saturday and Turrell hopes to capitalise their failure to play a game.
"It's good news for us they didn't get a game so I hope we will make the most of it.''
