CRUSADER WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: THE Calne duo of Steve Richards (97no) and Clive Downham (61) knocked off the runs to defeat Collingbourne on Saturday.
Tom Edmunds (77no) was the backbone of a Collingbourne total of 209. Bath Civil Service travelled to Spye Park and were bowled out for 149; John Fair top scoring with 45. For Spye, Phil Allsop took 5-13 in 12 overs and John Beal 4-8 in ten.
Despite 56 from Dave Beal, and Paul Rose 26, Spye were then restricted to 128-9 in reply.
Mathew Colt 4-28 in 12 overs and Chris Killeen 3-34 in ten were the pick of the Civil Service attack.
At Box, Tony Trotman (69), Dave Galacticus (70) and Dave Crawford (52) helped them to 248-9 against visiting Great Bedwyn, for whom Alistair Tuttle took 4-38 in six overs.
In their reply, Bedwyn were bowled out for 206 with Ray Palmer 71 and George Stone 46 top scoring; while Dave Crawford rounded off a good day, taking 5-36 in his 12 overs.
Purton visited Lechlade and scored 169-9 with Mark Gardener knocking 40 (extras with 38 being the next highest score). Ejaz Khan took 3-37 in eight overs. Lechlade were then dismissed for 144 with four overs remaining. Jamal Khan (32), Paul Rowley (31); and Extras top scored with 35. For Purton, Dave Bowler took 3-24 in 12 overs and Alan Woolford 4-28 in 8.2.
Wootton Bassett scored 180 all out at home to Westinghouse with Jag Chahal hitting 53. An excellent knock from Ray Peters (112no) then sped Westinghouse to a five wicket victory with six overs in hand.
BLUNSDON were bowled out for just 64 by Nationwide House for whom Mike Morris took 4-15 in 12 overs, and Mark Lewis 3-19 in ten.
Nationwide went on to a comfortable eight wicket victory.
Cooper-Avon Tyres had Steve Rendell (83) and Rich Jory (37no) to thank as they totaled 180-9 at home to Potterne. The Gaiger brothers then made light of the task with Sam hitting 89 as they cruised to a seven wicket win.
At Sutton Veny, 48 from Colin Brown, and Andy Frost (28), helped them to 179-7 against visiting Seagry for whom Nick Lancaster took 4-28 in 12 overs. Seagry were then restricted to 151-9 in reply, Andy Lawrence (29), with Doug Small 2-28 in 12 overs and Colin taking 4-23 in 11, which included a hat-trick.
At Avebury, John Rhineberg (78), Greg Dix (37) and Henry Fry (33) helped the home side to 220-4 against Urchfont, for whom Alan Crouch took 3-51 in 12 overs. Urchfont were then bowled out for just 44, their lowest league score, as Rob Gater took 3-10 in nine overs and Vince Ogbourne 3-4 in nine miserly overs.
AT Beanacre, Corsham 3rd XI scored 150-6 thanks to Adie Smith (61) and John Gale (39). Beanacre in reply managed 130 all out, Tim Tandy made 60 and Simon Acornley took 3-28 in nine overs.
Lambourn entertained Cherhill and scored 140-7 with Ray Boucher (23), Jack Brown (21no) and Nick Giddings (30) in form. For Cherhill, Ben Webber had 3-47 in 12 overs. Despite Dave Hewins' 50, and Trevor Carpenter 21no, Cherhill managed only 125 all out in response Paul Annetts taking 3-14 in 12 accurate overs.
Swindon 3rd XI scored 173-5 at Moredon Royal Oak. Top scorers being Brian Stone (78), Simon Rupra (26) and Mark Thomas (27).
For Moredon, Mike Williams had 1-38 in nine overs and Leon Blake 2-12. Moredon then replied with 156-8, Tahir Hanif (39), Barry Sellar (20), while Chris Mabberley took 2-9 in seven overs and Brian 3-35.
Wilcot travelled to Wroughton Wranglers with only eight men, and were then hustled out for their lowest league total of just 17; Mark McMeekin 4-6 in eight overs and Alan Stratford 3-7 in seven doing the damage, with Wroughton going on to win by ten wickets.
AT Keevil, Justin Wagstaff hit 118 not out for visitors Heytesbury, as they scored 199-6.
Kelvin Lockwood bowled well to end with 4-48. Keevil then replied with 146-6, Simon Gunstane (45) and Andrew Hallett (44) top scoring.
Purton 2nd XI bowled visiting Bathford out for 168, Paul Merritt hit 59, with Joe Dunn taking 4-26 in 12 overs. Thanks to Dave Allen (80no) and Andy Distern (70) Purton cruised to a nine wicket victory with 12 overs left.
At Nationwide House 2nd's, visiting Bradford Town scored 178-8 with John Edwards (44) top scoring as Joe Perkins took 3-31 in 12 overs. Brian Bird responded with 5-45 in his 12 overs as nationwide were restricted to 155-9; Ian Vardon hit 30.
Highworth struggled for runs at Swindon Litten Tree, finally closing on 121-8 Brian Jay (43), Tony Summers 3-27 in 12 overs. A rapid unbeaten 83 from Mark Brown then helped Litten Tree to a seven wicket success with 23 overs still remaining.
BEEHIVE Bradford travelled to Mildenhall and were bowled out for 129, Steve Cook taking 3-16. Mildenhall then struggled for runs and were dismissed for 99 in the 40th over, Alan Goddard taking 3-19.
Thanks to Ian Merryweather (87) and Chris Day (50), Chippenham 3rd XI scored 262-9 at Devizes 3rd XI. Devizes scored rapidly in response, but also lost wickets quickly and were all out in their 32nd over for 162; Tony Downing (28) top scoring.
Nettleton visited United Churches and made 182-8 thanks to Ian Sandell (58no), Ian Witt (41) and Ray Pratt (37no). Alan Foster took 3-35 in 12 overs for Churches. Alan Gooding (47), Adrian Foster (44), Roy Tong (28) and Alan Jones (28) then helped United Churches to a six wicket win with four overs to spare.
The closest game of the day was at Westinghouse 2nd XI who entertained their Wootton Bassett counterparts. Bassett batted first and scored 189-4 with Simon Maroo 47 not out; and Paul Grace taking 3-47 in 11 overs. Then, despite 56 from Henry Simons, Westinghouse fell four short at 185-9, Barry Thurkell taking 3-19 in 12 overs decisive overs.
A HALF century from Chris Chapman helped Goatacre 3rd XI to 171-8 at Burbage & E.R 2nd XI, for whom Paul Lavis took 3-51 in ten overs and Roger Cope 1-16 in 12 accurate overs.
Lavis hit a rapid unbeaten 88 and Bob Cady (39) shared a 100-run partnership to hustle Burbage to a seven wicket win with 12 overs to spare.
Calne 2nd XI hit the day's highest total with 273-4 at home to Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nd XI. Darren Holcombe (caught on 99) and Barry Garland (89) led the scoring.
Cooper-Avon were then bowled out in 35 overs for 136.
A fine innings of 94 by Phil Stean helped Lacock to 197 all out at Bradford Town 2nd XI; for whom Kevin Smart took 5-32. Bradford were always just behind the asking rate and despite Nick Gerrish (44no) and Kevin Elliott (33) batting well they went down by 13 runs, ending at 184-8.
Andrew Legg (108no) and Kevin Ryles (81) helped All Cannings to 221-4 at home to Box 2nd XI; who made 181-7 in reply.
BATH Civil Service 2nd XI entertained Dauntsey Gentlemen and scored 169 all out with Mark Thorne (62), and Nathan Price (33) top scoring as Nick Marshall took 5-42 in 11.4 overs.
Brian Scotford (66no), Dave Sheart (39) and John Smith (28no) then helped Dauntsey to a eight wicket win with nine overs to spare.
Corsham 4th XI lost early wickets at home to Beanacre 2nd XI but then Neville Dennett at number seven hit 66 and, in useful stands with youngsters Bradley Barnes and Ed Wilson, took the total to 127 all out. Roy Hughes took 4-28 in 12 overs for Beanacre, who then collapsed to 68 all out as Mark Hick chimed in with 4-15 and Terry Rogers 3-21.
Chippenham 4th XI had a good four wicket victory over visitors Biddestone 3rd XI. The visitors reached 171-7 thanks to Dave Smith (44) and Colin Smith (54no). For Chippenham Assad Qureshi took 2-36 in 12 overs and Majid Qureshi 2-25 in 11. Majid (72no) and Simon Goodman (35) then anchored the Chippenham reply which saw them victorious in the 42nd over.
Marshfield 3rd XI scored 152 all out at home to Wootton Bassett 3rd XI, thanks to Andy Hills (46) and Martin Ould (51). For Bassett Stefan Tyrie had 3-17 in six overs and Mark Gaarstra 4-22 in 12. Simon Bishop responded with 7-29 in 12 overs as Bassett collapsed to 76 all out.
TWO of the newcomers met last Sunday in a rearranged game when Bradley travelled to Wilcot 2nd XI.
Batting first Bradley scored 215-6 with Steve Eade (72), Olly Howe (67), and Alan Colebrook (29no) top scoring; with Andy Elliott taking 3-29 in seven overs. Les Brown 5-24 in 11 and Lee Trainer 2-17 in eight then helped dismiss Wilcot for just 68.
On Saturday Bradley visited Swindon 4th XI and were bowled out for 83 as Paul Leggatt took 5-20 in nine overs. Wayne Steptoe (34no) then helped Swindon to an easy nine wicket success.
At Wilcot, All Cannings 2nd XI scored 206-6 thanks to a fine unbeaten 121 from Andrew Plank. Newcomer Craig Mcclaren-Kenedy bagged 3-45 in 12 overs for Wilcot.
Despite a 61 on his debut by Mat Campion, Wilcot succumbed to the day's best bowling performance as Garry Perritt took 7-28 in ten overs as they were dismissed for 139.
Highworth 2nd XI entertained Warminster 4th's and scored 143-9 with George Kirk (31) and Joe White (20) top scoring. Sean Close responded with 6-26 in six overs, all being bowled, as Warminster slumped to 58 all out. Devizes 4th XI have withdrawn from the League.
