CORSHAM'S championship bid was blown away by Exmouth as the wind helped them to a comfortable 4-0 win on Saturday.

Manager Colin Bush said he was disappointed to travel to Exmouth and not pick up any points but was pleased with his side's performances throughout the season.

He said: "We have had a fantastic season and the lads have worked hard. We could not have our full squad today and fresh legs would have made a difference."

The Corsham boss said he was pleased to have pushed Bideford to the penultimate game for the title.

"It was a long shot we were never going to catch them. But then I spoke to the Bideford manager and he said his side were worried we could catch them and were getting very nervous."

After a successful season Bush said he is hoping to keep the squad together.

"I will be speaking to the chairman in the coming week to decide what the future holds.

"I hope to keep everybody and I don't want to see anyone leave.

"Our challenge next season will be to repeat our performances because it's harder to match a good season than achieve one in the first place."

Corsham were behind in the first minute when an Exmouth striker broke the offside trap.

Midway through the first half the hosts doubled their lead through a 40-yard shot, which caught the wind and flew into the back of the net.

Five minutes after half time Corsham conceded a third before, on the hour mark, another speculative shot hit the post and went into the roof of the net.

Corsham had chances themselves but found the Exmouth keeper in unforgiving mood.

Bush's side also had a penalty turned away when the referee gave a free kick for a challenge outside the box.
