GAZETTE & HERALD: A POCKET park is to be developed within Castlefields Park, Calne, thanks to a grant of just under £25,000 from the Government.
The money, awarded to the Castlefields Canal and River Park Association (CARP) will be used to enhance the area adjacent to the River Marden, and incorporate motif and sensory areas designed with the help of local voluntary groups.
Improved footpath access, drainage and new fencing and hedges for better boundary identification will be included.
Dennis Robinson, CARP's chairman said: "This award of just under £25,000 is a major achievement for the association and full reward for the hard work put in by the committee members and advisors in securing this grant.
"The strategic location of the area to be developed will set the scene for other proposed park improvements planned in the very near future for the enjoyment of the local community."
The grant is part of a £30 million Government scheme called Living Spaces which provides funds and support to help people make the most of spaces in their neighbourhood.
