THE position of a sewer underneath Devizes Snooker Club has forced developers to submit amended plans for building houses on the site.
The snooker club, which was once owned by Colin Lee, father of snooker star Stephen Lee, is to close on Saturday.
Kiwi Corporation, the company that owns the club, has already got planning permission to demolish it and to build five town houses on the site fronting Station Road.
However club owner Brian Foster said rules about access to the sewer meant his company had amended the design of the housing.
He said: "The sewer has to be moved to the right hand side of the garage as there has to be three metres of space on either side for the water company.
"The amended plans will mean the town houses will be slightly narrower and longer but there will still be the same square footage."
Mr Foster still intends to leave the club on May 31 and complete the contract for the site with Surrey based developers James Cubitt Homes.
The amended plans will be decided by Kennet District Council. Devizes Town Council's planning committee has raised no objections.
