POLICE officers from Wiltshire are to call for the Police Federation to widen its net and allow in more members.
The federation is an organisation similar to a union that looks after the interests of its members.
The officers will propose the motion at the Police Federation conference in Blackpool that other police authority staff, such as community support officers should be allowed to join the federation.
The conference is taking place between Monday, May 16 and May 19.
It will discuss a range of topics relating to modern policing, including diversity in the police service and the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
There will also be a special presentation on the effectiveness of equipment designed to protect police officers' safety.
Other presentations will look at the public sector and police reform, workforce modernisation, Fixed Penalty Notices and CPS charging.
As well as the main conference there will also be a smaller conference which will concentrate on various issues relating to the different ranks in the police services, such as constables, sergeants, inspectors and female officers.
