I REFER to the report May 6, "Sisters plead not guilty to charges of stealing mail,'' where it was alleged that two sisters stole post from the Royal Mail.

To answer this allegation at Swindon Magistrates Court the sisters had to communicate with the court through a Hindi interpreter.

This incident raises serious questions about employee recruitment, managerial competence and the professionalism of the Royal Mail in Swindon.

I have previously experienced problems with various items of my mail being delivered to other addresses, other people's mail being sent to my address and a couple of items of my mail going astray.

It seems unbelievable that managers of the Royal Mail have recruited employees who cannot understand English to deliver the post. It doesn't take a genius to realise that this is a basic requirement of such a job.
