GAZETTE & HERALD: Pupils from three Chippenham primary schools celebrated the season of spring with a display of Maypole and traditional country dancing in Chippenham High Street on Saturday.
Around 50 youngsters from St Peter's School, Ivy Lane and Redland put on the display outside the town hall from 10.30am.
The event was organised by Chippenham Town Council as a festive celebration of the birth of spring and school children have put on a dancing display in May for the past few years.
Dozens of curious shoppers stopped to watch the show, and the youngsters were also well supported by parents and family members. Organisers played music through a PA system.
Redland and Ivy Lane schools undertook country dances while a grand maypole, complete with coloured ribbons, was honoured by the dances of pupils from St Peter's including historic favourites such as Spider's Web.
Town council information officer Cheryl Gibbs said: "We were lucky with the weather because the sun shone for us.
"All the schools performed excellently and the children seemed very pleased all their dances went well.
"We had lots of shoppers watching."
