I am writing to say a huge thank you to the 892 women who took part in Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, supported by Tesco, in Marlborough. I hope they all enjoyed the day as much as I did.
This year marks the first time that Race for Life has come to Marlborough and I am delighted with the support shown to the race from local women.
In 2005, Race for Life is aiming to raise £23 million, so now the event is over, make sure you keep up the good work with your fundraising to help smash Marlborough's individual target of £60,000.
Every penny raised by the women who take part in Race for Life goes towards research to help cure cancer faster. In the South West, 36 women are diagnosed with cancer every day.
Money raised from Race for Life supports Cancer Research UK's vital work, including funding for trials into breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer and leukaemia. For further information on our work go to www.cancerresearchuk.org
I look forward to seeing you all in 2006!
