A HEALTH expert is offering free sessions to potential clients to raise awareness about the Japanese healing method she practises.
Anne Tottingham, 55, of Little Court Lane, Edington, practises and teaches Reike, a practice that works by harnessing energy to promote the body's regenerative self-healing ability.
As part of Reike Awareness Week, May 14-22, Mrs Tottingham will be offering free 15-minute taster sessions to anybody interested in learning more.
The practice takes place in GP surgeries, hospitals and addiction centres, and there are over one million users worldwide.
Mrs Tottingham said: "It basically works by transferring energy between the healer and the client.
"Reike, which means universal energy, promotes the body's regenerative self-healing ability."
As well as Reike, Mrs Tottingham also practises homeopathy, which works by asking patients about their personalities and prescribing remedies based on the answers.
She said around this time of year, a lot of her patients are suffering from hay fever and homeopathy can help with these symptoms.
"Homeopathy works by taking a diluted form of the disease and placing like against like," she said.
"Therefore we use a diluted form of onion, which has many of the same symptoms as hay fever, such as streaming eyes.
"I have a lot of clients who come in the summer to get help with hay fever.
"But I can do the treatment all year round to help build up people's immune systems."
As well as a practitioner, Mrs Tottingham also teaches Reike to others.
She said: "I have one client who wanted to learn about it to help her daughter.
"There are so many benefits to both Reike, primarily as it can make you feel much more relaxed.
Treatment costs £25 for an hour or £7 for 15 minutes. Homeopathy treatment costs between £20 and £50.
