Al Summers half way through his beard shave that raised more than £400 for charityMUSICIAN Al Summers exposed his chin after 31 years hidden behind whiskers to raise money for charity.

Mr Summers, of Bratton Road, Westbury and three other professional session players got together last week for a Charity Hair Loss Fundraiser.

Proceeds went towards Splash-Wiltshire, a charity programme to find activities for youngsters in school holidays, and the North Wiltshire Homelessness Project.

Mr Summers said: "I have worked on Splash projects in the past and really believe in the principle.

"I was extremely nervous about having my beard shaved off, in fact I felt more nervous about this than if I'd been asked to play live and unrehearsed in front of 10,000 people. My hairdresser came along and performed the dirty deed I still don't recognise the person staring back at me in the mirror."

The charity shave raised £300 for Splash-Wiltshire and over £100 for the North Wiltshire Homelessness Project.

Splash Coordinator, Beverley Salter said: "Our thanks to Al, and his wife Gill for encouraging him to go through with this, the evening was great fun and very worthwhile."
