CARS parking illegally in a town car park are infuriating civic leaders. Town councillors in Melksham said they want highway officers to examine the layout of Market Place car park and taxi rank to stop badly parked cars causing congestion.
Cllr Chris Petty produced a report showing four incidents in a two-month period.
His report said an ambulance was hampered on its way to an emergency call at the Blue Pool, while a National Blood Service lorry had to reverse back into King Street and through no entry signs to get to Melksham House, both because of badly parked cars.
At a meeting on Monday Cllr Davina Griffin said it was important to look at the car park as a whole.
One suggestion made was painting a yellow cross-hatch box on a space used by drivers despite it not being an official parking zone.
Cllr Adrienne Westbrook said: "Because people park in that space which isn't a space it is an absolute nightmare for coaches, particularly when they are dropping off children at the swimming pool."
