FORMER Trowbridge Town fans' favourite Marcus Bray will return to the spotlight tomorrow as some past masters take on the club's current crop of stars.

The tenacious utility player will be joined by a host of other former players as Woodmarsh stages the eagerly awaited reunion match.

In just under 500 appearances for the club between 1983 and 1993, Bray saw some the club's finest days including a semi-final FA Vase appearance and 35 matches in the Alliance League, now the Conference.

He said: "It is a really good idea. I have not seen a lot of the old boys for about 10 years since I left Trowbridge and it should be good fun.

"I don't know if I am looking forward to the actual match because the roles will be reversed. I remember I used to love kicking some of the better opposition but I suspect the current team will be very keen to make their mark.

Bray, 38, made his debut for Trowbridge in the 1983 Wiltshire Premier Shield defeat to Devizes and stayed loyal for 10 years, although he would have played more games had his disciplinary record been better.

He said: "The best team I played in was in 1991 when we reached the semi final of the FA Vase, won the league cup and reached the final of the Wiltshire Shield.

"In those day we just wanted to play as high as we could and remained loyal to Trowbridge whereas nowadays people seem to be ruled by money. I played in five Shield finals for Trowbridge and we lost them all, yet the year I left they went on to win it."

Bray's side will be managed by former boss John Murphy and will include Paul Thorpe, Alan Bird and Jeff Meacham. The match will be preceded with a youth exhibition match at 2.30pm.

Bray is now a coach with AFC Corsham Youth. An open day on Saturday was well attended and Bray is hoping to add to the 18 teams that are already part of the set up.
