16997HE may be more interested in Bob the Builder and Balamory than politics but 18-month-old Alex Fowler was all set to vote on Thursday.
The youngster's parents Keith Fowler, 35, and Elizabeth Champkin, 22, of Duke Street, were stunned when a polling card arrived for their little boy and decided to take him along to see if he could play his part in choosing the Government.
Mr Fowler, a taxi driver, said: "I was very surprised when the polling card arrived and a bit worried because anyone could use this in his name."
The couple took Alex along to their local polling station at St Thomas' Church Hall, where election officials told them they had never heard of such a mistake before.
"We took him to the polling station and they joked that if he could reach the stands he could vote, but he is undecided!"
Louise Knox, spokesman for West Wiltshire District Council, said it was most likely down to a mistake on the registration form sent to the family.
Anyone who wants to report a mistake on the electoral roll can contact the district council on (01225) 776655.
