THE Airsprung match fished at Clivey's Pond was a struggle, with fish hard to tempt.
Mike Withey, of Westbury, won with a catch of two small carp plus a few roach weighing 4lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn and worm.
Adrian Parrish, of Trowbridge, was second with a mixed catch of bream and small roach weighing 3lb 15oz, taken on pole-fished meat and pellets. Pat Jay, of Trowbridge, was third with a catch of small roach weighing 3lb 3oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots.
The Friday open match at Ivy House Fishery produced reasonable weights.
Venue specialist Gary Etheridge, of Devizes, chalked up another good win with a mixed bag of small carp, roach and skimmers weighing 20lb 9oz, taken on waggler-fished soft pellets.
Runner-up was Ivy House matchman John Bailey, with a mixed bag of carp and silver fish weighing 16lb 4oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots. He was followed by Ivy House matchman Alan Mitchell with a mixed bag weighing 10lb 6oz.
Weights were fairly even in the Ivy House Wednesday open match.
Tony Gilbert, of Ivy House, won with a mixed bag of carp and silver fish weighing 32lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. He was closely followed by Simon Jones with a mixed catch weighing 32lb 7oz, also taken on pole-fished pellets. John Bailey, of Ivy House, was third with a mixed bag weighing 30lb and Gary Etheridge and Elick Payne, of Chippenham, tied for fourth spot with mixed bags weighing 23lb.
The Wilts Angling open match fished on Monday at Viaduct Fishery produced good weights.
Julian Heaven, of Chippenham, gained a runaway win with an all-carp catch weighing 189lb, taken alternating with pole and waggler-fished pellets on a 14 hook.
Tony Mumford, of Trowbridge, was second with a carp catch weighing 81lb 14oz, taken on waggler-fished pellets on a 14 hook. He was closely followed by Mick Gunning, of Trowbridge, with a carp catch weighing 81lb 10oz, taken on pole-fished pellets.
Other placings: 4 Steve Shaw, Trowbridge, 79lb 4oz; 5 Paul Cooper, Melksham, 78lb 3oz; 6 Ian Willetts, Bradford, 63lb 7oz.
Weights were fairly even in the Wilts Angling open match fished on Wednesday at Witherington Farm.
Mick Gunning, of Trowbridge, won with a carp catch weighing 82lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. In-form Paul Cooper, of Melksham, was a good second with a carp catch weighing 65lb 9oz, also taken on pole-fished pellets.
Similar tactics gave third prize to Gerry Lugg, of Beckington, with with a carp catch weighing 63lb 7oz.
Competitors in the Airsprung match at Rood Ashton on Sunday enjoyed reasonable sport.
Howard Carpenter, of Trowbridge, won with a carp catch weighing 52lb 14oz, taken on feeder-fished treble red maggots on a 16 hook. Runner-up was Ian Willetts, of Bradford, with a carp catch weighing 24lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. He was followed by Dean Adams, of Bradford, with a carp catch weighing 24lb 8oz, also taken on pole-fished pellets.
Other placings: 4 Fred Eagles, Trowbridge, 21lb 12oz; 5 Steve Shaw, Trowbridge, 20lb 12oz; 6 John Atkins, Trowbridge 17lb 8oz.
