A HEROIN user who murdered a former bank manager turned dealer has won a cut in the time he must spend in jail before being considered for parole.
Daryl Kluk, 32, of Bath Road, Swindon, was jailed for life at Bristol Crown Court last November, after pleading guilty to the stabbing of John Goldman, 34, in March, 2004.
The judge ordered he serve 14 years four months and 11 days before he could be considered for parole, stating that the appropriate figure was 15 years. But he reduced it by the period Kluk had served on remand.
London's Appeal Court yesterday found the 15-year term did not give a proper discount for Kluk's guilty plea and cut it to 14 years.
The court noted sentencing guidelines published after Kluk was jailed had changed with more leniency given to those who entered early guilty pleas.
Bristol Crown Court was told Mr Goldman was stabbed to death in an alleyway off Manchester Road, Swindon, after a drug deal.
