2005 - June 3 to 25: Devizes Festival, scores of jazz, rock and classical concerts, plays, talks and other events at various venues across the town full details in the festival programme available free from outlets all over town.
July 2: Devizes Beer Festival, Wharfside, a marquee selling dozens of different brands of real ale, entertainments and stalls selling food etc, running from 11am to 11pm, organised by the Devizes branch of CAMRA.
July 3: The Kennet Kanter, a ten-mile run around the Devizes area, including the challenging Caen Hill lock flight. Open to affiliated and non-affiliated runners. Entry forms available at the Devizes Visitor Centre. A family fun day is being organised on The Green to coincide with it.
July 4 to 10: VE/VJ Day celebrations going on all week, culminating in an open air service in the Market Place on Sunday 10.
July 16/17: The Battle of Roundway Down, a re-enactment of the 1643 English Civil War battle performed by members of The Sealed Knot who will be involved in events during the week leading up to it.
August 29: Bank Holiday Monday street festival, a highlight of Devizes Carnival, brings to the town the best street performers from all over the world.
September 3: Devizes Carnival procession leaves from The Green and parades through the town, accompanied by many marching bands, majorette troupes, floats and walking entries.
September 19 to 24: Devizes Food and Drink Festival a new event for the town, involving a week of demonstrations, tastings and talks on the theme in the best possible taste.
November 25: Devizes Christmas Festival following on from last year's success with many stalls, street entertainers, a lantern-lit procession and the switching on of the town's Christmas decorations.
2006
April 14: The 58th Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race sets off from the Wharf. Hundreds of entries, of all ages, from all over the country undertake the gruelling 125-mile course along the Kennet and Avon Canal to the River Thames at Reading and then on to Westminster Bridge.
April 30: The Sarsen Trail sponsored walk and Neolithic Marathon sets off from Avebury stone circle on the 26-mile route to Stonehenge over some of the most dramatic countryside in the South West in aid of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
