WHILE having not been above criticising the police in the past concerning their nine to five mobile speed camera operations and their curious disinclination to blitz the evening tearaways they most certainly have my unreserved sympathy in their battle to knock some sense into the blockheads that ignore motorway speed limits.

Their stupidity knows no bounds. In the belief that it is their right to ignore the 70mph limit because their car has the capability to cruise at 85-90mph, they scuttle the optimum traffic flow by pigheadedly blocking the outer overtaking lane, usually spending their entire journey alternating between accelerator and brake.

In their arrogance and profound ignorance, they indirectly cause hundreds of accidents annually.

Speeders should be made to sit and watch video-films made by the emergency services of the carnage that they are obliged to attend.

It was done in the US for convicted drunken drivers and I assure you, it was effective.
