PARENTS at Brookfield, Shaw Ridge and other local schools will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief that their schools are not threatened with closure. However, that might well not be the end of the problem for them.

The children currently at Salt Way would have to be educated somewhere and that means expanding Brookfield (further) and Shaw Ridge. Which, in turn, means mobile classrooms and pressure on fixed infrastructure like school halls and playground areas.

These issues would affect all children at these schools. We would have a situation where children from Salt Way go from being taught in probably the best primary school building in Swindon, along with children from the existing schools, to being accommodated in unsatisfactory conditions.

Parents at Shaw Ridge and Brookfield should be aware that this is the reality. It is in their interests to join with the parents at Salt Way in opposing any closure of our school.
