16182/3GAZETTE & HERALD: Mini dynamo Shaun Dunford has netted a bagful of medals in the Dwarf Athletic Association UK National Games.
The 11-year-old Kington Langley lad, who attends Grittleton House Junior School, is just over three feet (one metre) tall due to a genetic condition which stops his cartilage growing properly.
But that didn't stop him achieving a magnificent tally of three gold, two silver and two bronze medals at his first attempt in the games, held in Birmingham.
Among the events he competed in were athletics, swimming and football. He said: "I was surprised to have got so many medals. It was a tiring weekend and I hope to do it again next year. In the future I would like to be a runner."
His mum Barbara Dunford, 37, said: "He is a competitive person and puts his heart and soul into everything. He has taught me to accept there is no barrier, only the one that exists in your mind."
