GAZETTE & HERALD: THE future of Neston village hall was hanging by a thread when key positions on the management committee could not be filled.

A new treasurer and a booking clerk have been found, saving the hall from closure, but a chairman is still desperately required.

Stuart Little, 46, who lives in the village, recently stood down from the post after four years.

He said: "I will be carrying on, on the committee because I want to see through some improvements that are planned, but after four years I feel like I've done my time and it would be nice if someone else stepped in and showed a bit of support. It would bring a new lease of life into it."

Mr Little said although there are no fears over the future of the village hall now, at each meeting they have to decide who will chair it and that disturbs proceedings.

"Hall user group representatives are required to sit on this committee but due to their heavy commitment to their group, do not find time to fulfil essential offices," he explained.

"In recent years individuals who have no affiliation to user groups have taken some of the key posts and we are looking to the wider community for volunteers to serve a two-year term. The hall is our only community venue run by the village for the village."
