GAZETTE & HERALD: CORSHAM Primary is the only school in the country to have two prestigious Investors in People awards at the same time.
At the end of April Corsham Primary, on Pound Pill, achieved the Investor in People Leadership and Management Award and the Investor in People Work-Life Balance Award.
Headteacher Fiona Allen said she was delighted at the news and didn't realise just what a great accomplishment it was.
"We had absolutely no idea we were the first to get it," she said.
"It's great and it's such a shock. There were vigorous assessments including a three-day visit from an assessor who interviewed people and delved into absolutely everything. His report then goes to a panel and they make the decision.
"I now realise why, because it's so unique and we passed with flying colours. The staff were absolutely thrilled."
It was recommended the primary school try for the further awards after they retained the Investor in People Award three times.
Mrs Allen, who has been headteacher at the school for eight years, said: "We set ourselves the challenge and thought we would go for them both together."
Talking about why she thinks they got the award, she said: "I think it's down to the amount of investment we put into our staff as a governing body and a school and we work really hard to make sure they are fully developed and the school is led effectively."
