16160/9GAZETTE & HERALD: MORE than 100 youngsters turned out for the first Corsham Youth Festival on Saturday to see what their town had to offer them.
The action-packed day of fun activities was planned for Corsham's young people in a bid to tackle antisocial behaviour in teens.
They were invited to sample activities such as drumming, body combat, squash, badminton, rock climbing, kayaking, dance and sculpting in the Springfield Community Centre and Leisure Centre.
Development coordinator for Youth Action Wiltshire and joint organiser of the festival, Maggie Giddings said: "We are really pleased. It was extremely good and the fact that so many partner organisations came together and so many people turned up to support us was great."
There was also a fashion challenge for wannabe designers and an X Factor style singing competition in the evening, where youngsters could showcase what they had been doing all day. Many parents rallied round to offer their support.
Every young person filled out a consultation form on the day and Ms Giddings said they would use the information to push forward other projects in the town.
