Corston villagers are seeking a solution to the hazardous parking problem at the village hall and reading room.
The hall built more than 100 years ago lies on the busy A429.
But because there is nowhere to park near the building, villager and ex-parish councillor Daphne Jones says older visitors and disabled people find it difficult to reach it safely.
Local resident Frank Lucas, who attends the parish council's Highways Sub-Committee, has come up with one solution.
He has suggested that the metal gates on the left of the hall should be moved back towards the playing field, leaving some spaces on the concrete surface.
Another idea mooted is to remove the dry stonewall by the reading room to provide access.
Mrs Jones said that the long-awaited pedestrian crossing outside the building would make things worse for village hall users, because it would leave less parking space.
Mrs Jones said: "It is extremely dangerous for people to reach the building safely and for disabled people it is nearly impossible to park nearby. The pedestrian crossing will make things worse because you cannot park beside it."
