16167/1Members of the the Malmesbury Tuesday Club will benefit from nutritious cooked meals thanks to a £300 grant from the Gannett Foundation.
The foundation - which is the charitable arm of the Gazette and Herald - will help the club buy cutlery and kitchen equipment for its members, many of whom suffer impairments to their speech, sight or hearing.
The club used to meet in Glover's Court in Malmesbury but moved into new premises at Malmesbury Hospital in March this year.
Wendy Allison, assistant organiser of the Tuesday Club, said the grant would be a real boost.
Mrs Allison said: "Since we moved into the hospital it was not too well equipped with kitchen equipment. But the £300 will help with the facilities to have a good cooked meal."
Chairman of the club Bob Turner said: "People who live on their own often do not make a point of eating something that is nutritious.
"We want to produce a good cooked meal as it is the main part of the day for them."
