CHIPPENHAM captain Trevor Lloyd said their batting had helped Downend's Ksemal Waingankar single-handedly demolish the away side.

Waingankar took six wickets, caught Paul Bates (21) and hit 30 runs as Downend cruised to a five-wicket victory at home.

Chippenham simply had no answer to the accuracy of the Downend dangerman.

Lloyd said he was disappointed with the result, which saw four ducks and another four batsman fail to reach double figures, but that he knew his side would come good.

"The problem at the moment is that all the batsmen are struggling for form and match practise at the same time," added the captain.

"I was not very happy with the way we performed but looking at the positives there is a long way to go and people will come back into form.

"If we could have got another 20 or 30 wins we could have been in with a shout of the win.

"It won't be long until the batsmen start picking up the runs."

Chippenham travel to Weston-super-Mare this Saturday and Lloyd is hoping to send them to another defeat.

Lloyd added: "They have lost their first two but it's early days so you can never tell. They have not got a bad side at all.

"I will be telling my side that everyone needs to take responsibility and not rely on someone else to do the job."
