NEWLYWEDS Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have delighted a loyal young Salisbury fan by sending her a personal letter.
Seven-year-old Gabrielle Peters, of Bishopdown Farm, sent the royal couple a special card she designed and drew for them, after seeing their wedding on the television.
Gabrielle was upset that some people opposed the wedding and decided she would tell Prince Charles and Camilla that she was happy they were getting married.
Gabrielle's mother, Samantha Peters, said: "Gabrielle watched the wedding at her grandparents' home and decided she would send them a card.
"She drew a picture and put inside the card 'I wish you a happy marriage' and put her name, although she can't remember everything she wrote.
"She addressed an envelope to 'Charles and Camilla at Clarence House, London', and posted it."
Mrs Peters said they did not expect to hear any more but, on Friday, an envelope arrived addressed to Gabrielle.
Mrs Peters said: "It was from Clarence House and the letter said that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall wanted to thank Gabrielle for her card and drawing."
The letter went on: "We are immensely touched that you took the trouble of writing as you did. Your words were greatly appreciated and we send our warmest thanks."
Mrs Peters said: "The letter was on official Clarence House paper, and after reading it, Gabrielle had the biggest grin on her face I've ever seen."
