WORTON and Cheverell U11s won the South Wilts Youth and Badger League Cup final at the Ray McEnhill Stadium in Salisbury on Sunday.
The only goal of a tight game was scored early in the first half by man of the match Charlie Waylen.
Opponents Amesbury Tigers kept on the pressure and only resolute defending by Worton kept them out, in a tense game played in a friendly spirit.
Worton were unlucky not to extend the lead but the side netting and crossbar kept the game very close.
The joy of the players at the final whistle was matched by the relief of proud manager Roger Littleworth.
He said: "All the parents and I all aged considerably in what felt like the longest hour of our lives."
