GAZETTE & HERALD: This year's Calne Country Music Festival is set to be bigger than ever as ten bands descend on the town for a weekend of foot-stomping fun.

The weekend will see an emotional farewell performance by popular country music band Fever after 24 years on the circuit.

Organiser Jean Smith said: "They're a wonderful band and have been regulars at the festival ever since we first started 16 years ago.

"They love coming to Calne and have decided that it's the perfect place to say their farewell before they retire and we feel very honoured."

More than 1,000 people are expected to turn-out for the festival at Lower Beversbrook during the first weekend in July .

The 1st Calne Scouts provide the catering for the weekend and festival proceeds are split between Calne Community Transport and the Babe Appeal for the new children's hospice near Bristol. Events on both days start at 11am and finish at 10pm and 9pm respectively.

Tickets for the festival are available on (01249) 812845. Before the end of May, tickets cost £10 per adult per day, children aged between ten-16, £5, under tens free. From June, adult tickets will increase to £11.50.
