The sound of the Caribbean will come to Marlborough later this month when reggae MC Knati P takes centre stage at The Sun.
Knati P and his Skanga Sound System will present the gig on May 28. "I think the town could do with some real Jamaican reggae," says Knati.
Knati lives locally now but regularly travels all over the country and Europe, both with The Skanga Sound and with the RDK Sound System from Brixton. Luckily for Wiltshire Knati has a particular interest in promoting the music in his adopted home county.
"I built the Skanga Sound so that I could give people in this area the experience of real dancehall," says Knati. "It has an authentic bass heavy sound and is set up just to play reggae. It's not a disco and it's the closest you can get to the sound of the Caribbean without buying a plane ticket."
His selection combines the latest dub plate reggae, old roots tunes, ska, popular dance hall styles, a bit of R&B and feel good, party time, Raggamuffin tracks.
