16185/1THE ancient art of maypole dancing and the more modern one of samba will join this Saturday at a May fair being organised by Dauntsey's Aided Primary School in West Lavington.
The class of top infants will be performing at the school's third annual May fair, which takes place between noon and 3pm on Saturday at the village hall.
One of the junior pupils, Bronte Newstead and her mum Karen Carter will also be delighting the crowds with the infectious rhythms of Brazilian samba with their fellow members of Oi Sambistas, Devizes' own samba band.
Head teacher Jacqui Monckton said: "Children in the school have been reviving the art of maypole dancing for the past three years."
Entry is free and other attractions include a brass quintet, displays by the police and fire brigade, a mini football tournament for pupils, face painting and hair braiding.
The school is hoping to raise more than £1,000 to help pay for interactive computer white boards.
