MELINDA Messenger is backing Fostering Fortnight in Swindon. The model-turned-TV presenter, will meet foster carers and members of the family placement team at Swindon Council today.
Last week Melinda, who has three children of her own and lives near Purton, told the Adver she wanted to adopt or foster in the future. A range of events have taken place for Fostering Fortnight, including a fostering display at North Swindon Library which runs until tomorrow, to highlight the need for more foster carers to come forward.
Coun Ian Dobie, cabinet member for social services, said: "The events for Fostering Fortnight have generated a good level of interest and we are very grateful for the continued support we have received from Melinda for our campaign.
"Foster carers have a vital role to play in helping children to thrive by giving them the best possible start in life.
"Anyone can apply to become a foster carer and there are many different ways to get involved it is even possible to foster on a part-time basis. We urge those who are interested in fostering, both now and in the future, to get in touch with us and find out more."
