I AM very glad that my comments about the general election have sparked such a good debate in the Adver letters page.

Personally I am glad that we have a Labour and not a Tory government, whatever I feel about Mr Blair.

However in England the Conservatives actually polled more votes than Labour, yet won 98 less English MPs!

Tony Blair has compounded this travesty by packing the House of Lords with more of his cronies, so that New Labour is now the biggest party in the Lords. This is the sort of travesty we expect from a Zimbabwean election.

We desperately need voting reform so that our elected representatives reflect the full range of political opinion in the country, and the make up of parliament matches how people have actually voted.
