GAZETTE & HERALD: PAUL Jones, the original frontman with 60s and 70s band Manfred Mann, will be giving a talk in Chippenham next month.

He will sing and share his life story along with his wife, actress Fiona Hendley-Jones, at the Neeld Hall on June 4.

It is the second event to be organised by the Oasis Church earlier this year former Boyzone heartthrob Shane Lynch appeared at the same venue.

Rev Ralph Burden, from the Oasis Church, said it was another exciting event for Chippenham.

"We like to put the town on the map in every way possible," he said. "People are always going to cities and larger towns for this type of event so it's important to get smaller communities involved too."

Mr Jones was an atheist until challenged on television by Sir Cliff Richard and interviewer Malcolm Muggeridge in 1968.

His wife became a Christian at an early age and their story tells how each of them found true happiness and faith.

Rev Burden said the couple had an amazing story to tell. "Paul was divorced beforehand and was very hurt so to now have such a successful marriage with Fiona is wonderful," he said. "They also give seminars on how to heal marriages."

Mr Jones, whose band had million-selling hit records with Do Wah Diddy and Pretty Flamingo, now shares the lead with Mike D'Arbo in The Manfreds and tours extensively.

In 1966 he turned to acting, first in films and then on stage and television. His film credits include Privilege and The Committee and he has starred in Thank Your Lucky Stars, Z Cars and The Sweeney on TV.

Millions listen to him as a blues presenter on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM.

Mrs Hendley has worked in all areas of show business from her acclaimed TV series Widows to leading roles at the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Tickets will be sold on the door for £1. The event starts at 7pm.
