With reference to Mrs Young's letter last week she wrote that the councillors of Marlborough organised the town's carnival. I would like to point out that in fact it was a small number of townspeople who put the carnival on last year.
If we had more help from the council then maybe there would be a carnival procession this year, instead of a fun weekend which an even smaller group are organising with me coming in from Calne to help. The only help from the council is free use of the common and one use of the town hall. The town council in Calne lets the carnival use its town hall for two weeks with no charge.
So if Mrs Young or any others would like help with this year's fun weekend phone me on (01249) 815940.
