GAZETTE & HERALD: The toilets and waiting room at Chippenham bus station will be swept away to make room for a safer entrance and exit for buses but passengers needing to spend a penny will find themselves inconvenienced.
The toilets have been closed because of vandalism and now they will not be reopened.
Public toilets are available in the Borough Parade car park, which is not far away, but they are only open in the day time.
Coun Nina Phillips, chairman of the Chippenham parish, town and district public transport forum, said: "I am not happy about this.
"I think most drivers and most passengers will also be upset if the toilets are not available.
"The provision just isn't adequate and I would like the current toilets to be replaced. We also need something like a newspaper shop or a place to buy coffee at the station in the daytime and early evenings."
Executive members of North Wiltshire District Council voted to demolish the toilet at a closed-doors meeting on Thursday.
Funding for the revamp of the Timber Street bus station will be provided by Wiltshire County Council and the district council will maintain it. If all goes to plan the new-look bus parking area should be ready within a matter of months.
After the meeting Coun Ross Henning said: "This will move ahead quite quickly because the funding is in place, and if it is not done quickly the funding will be lost.
"I am not particularly happy about the toilet provision, and I would like to look into having the Borough Parade toilets open longer."
