QUEENS Park Rangers striker Tony Thorpe has been sounded out about a move to the County Ground with fellow forward Jamie Cureton also high on Andy King's 'wanted' list.
Both players were released by Loftus Road boss Ian Holloway earlier this month along with four others.
King wants extra attacking options to assist rather than replace Sam Parkin.
He has long chased Cureton while ex-Bristol City man Thorpe has tormented Town previously for both the Ashton Gate outfit and Luton.
Both players are surplus to requirements at QPR and King has been swift to speak to Thorpe.
He said: "Thorpe and Cureton are on my list and they've a lot of experience between them.
"We have Rory Fallon and Christian Roberts but I'm always looking for extra goals. I'm no different to any manager in that sense."
King revealed he has spoken to Thorpe, pictured, although nothing more than that at this stage.
He said: "He is aware that the interest is there."
Thorpe, 31, who has netted more than 130 league goals during his career, scored 11 goals during QPR's 2003-4 promotion campaign, but saw 2004-5 largely ruined by injury.
As for Cureton, 29, his spell at Rangers funded by the supporters saw him net just seven goals in 46 appearances.
That was a paltry return in comparison to spells with Bristol Rovers and Reading respectively.
Cureton bagged 72 goals in 174 starts for the Gasheads and blasted 50 goals in 108 appearances for the Royals. The latter tally included a winning goal against Town at the County Ground in March 2001.
As with Manchester United's Paul Tierney, any deal for Thorpe and/or Cureton will depend heavily on the contract decisions of Messrs Evans, Smith, Duke and Igoe. All have yet to make their intentions clear to King with regard to next season.
