WINSLEY CRICKET: AN unbeaten century by Pak Bristolians' opener Saqib Butt condemned Winsley to their second successive Bristol and North Somerset League defeat.

After a 102 run opening day defeat to Conglesbury, Winsley restored some pride with a defiant run chase but poor bowling had left them too much to do.

Butt (106 not out) and Nadeem Hussain (54) put the hosts in a strong position and Ahzar Mohammed (41 not out) maintained the momentum as they ended their 45 overs on 228-1.

In reply, Winsley produced a valiant attempt as they finished their allotted overs just 29 runs short on 199-8. Captain Andy Ellett (50) and Andrew Cross (38) were Winsley's top scorers.

Ellett, said: "Our bowling and fielding performance was indifferent and we just didn't seem able to take wickets.

"Batting wise was far more positive despite another indifferent start.

"If we had held things together near the end it would have been a close finish.

"We need to marry up the two halves. So far we have fielded well and batted poorly in our first match and then done it the other way round in the second match."

Winsley entertain Shirehampton tomorrow and are hoping Indian star Kunal More will be available for the first time this season.
