CORSHAM CRICKET: RICHARD Foley is putting all his efforts into helping Corsham this season after ruling himself out of playing for Wiltshire again.
The all rounder's 72 not out was the one bright light in Saturday's four-wicket defeat at Keynsham but afterwards he insisted he was not interested in a return to the county side.
Foley, 32, returned to Station Road last summer from Box after a 10-year absence, with the main aim of adding to his previous six Wiltshire appearances.
He succeeded, playing another three matches, but this season he is focusing on enjoying a successful West of England Premier League campaign.
He said: "I am not really looking to play for Wiltshire this year, partly because of work commitments and partly because I am getting a bit old now.
"I think it is time for the younger players to start coming through for Wiltshire as there is a lot of good young talent around.
"I am concentrating on enjoying a really good season with Corsham, although I will have to bat really well because with fellow off-spinner Jason Searle at the club, I expect he will bowl most of the overs.
"I was pleased to get some runs on Saturday but it was all a bit of a downer because we lost the match."
Keynsham moved to the top of the table as their comfortable victory over Corsham leaves them as the only side with a 100 per cent record.
They restricted Corsham to 197 for five on a low, slow wicket, with Foley and opener Oliver Smith (43) scoring the bulk of the runs. In reply, Indian overseas star Praful Wagheda looked to be steering his side to victory until he was bowled by Rob Murphy just two runs short of his half century.
All rounder Richard Pannell (88 not out) carried on where Wagheda left off and his brilliant knock helped Keynsham home, with Ben Whittingham adding a useful 25.
James Ashford-Brown added to the previous week's four-wicket haul with another three wickets as he again finished the pick of Corsham bowlers. Foley also picked up a wicket while Murphy grabbed two but their efforts were in vain as the hosts cruised to a four-wicket victory.
Corsham entertain Bristol West Indians tomorrow, with a win and a defeat under their belts so far this season.
