PETER Hickerton has been given a taste of the big time and is now determined to put the work in to make sure it was not just a one-off.
The Trowbridge all-rounder earned a trial with Warwickshire 2nds in a match against Hampshire's second string at the Rose Bowl.
Hickerton, 19, picked up a wicket in each innings in a draw and although he did not get a chance to impress with the bat, he is hoping he will be invited back.
He said: "I got the chance because some of their guys were unavailable, but it was a great experience and hopefully I did enough to earn another chance soon.
"I am not going to get carried away because I didn't do anything special but it was good to be given the chance."
Hickerton started his career at Erlestoke before joining Trowbridge five seasons ago. He has played for Wiltshire since the age of 11 and is currently in the under 19s squad.
He said: "Now I have seen the level you need to achieve to play at that standard I am going to work hard to see how far I can get."
