77494-03THE businessmen and women of the future have buried a time capsule at a new conference centre.
Pupils from Wroughton Junior School joined Swindon mayor Peter Stoddart to bury the capsule at the Hayley Conference Centre, which opened in Wroughton on May 3.
Dan Edwards, general manager of the centre, said: "We wanted to involve the local children. They are going to be the future managing directors of the companies using our centres.
"We thought it would be interesting for people in 50 years time to see what was happening 50 years ago."
Wroughton Junior School pupils wrote a letter to whoever opens the time capsule and put in photos of their school along with friendship bracelets, as they were interested in what children in the future would do to show friendship.
A conference centre brochure, room key card and pictures of staff, along with a copy of the Financial Times and Daily Mail, were added to the capsule before it was buried.
"The kids liked it," said Coun Stoddart. "It was fun."
