CHRISTMAS may be a long way off but a festive lunch club is planning ahead and calling for help.
The Christmas Care project, which organises meals for people who are on their own over the Christmas period, needs 100 new dinner plates and side plates, soup dishes, cups and 100 sets of cutlery.
Christmas Care is held at Queen's Drive Methodist Church and runs from Christmas Eve until after breakfast on December 28.
The club serves over 500 meals during this period and cooks around 68 Turkey roast dinners on Christmas Day.
Patsy Moloney, pictured, who is joint secretary of the club, said: "Over the years we have had to borrow cooking utensils, cutlery and china from other churches in the area. Obviously items get broken or lost from time to time. I appreciate Christmas is a long way away, but we need to start looking for these items now."
Last Christmas more than 100 people visited the project and around 30 people slept at the Church each night.
If you would like to donate any of the items needed contact Mr Moloney on 01793 642368.
